Planning Your Wedding For Less
 IS Possible!

So you ask, "How can I start planning my wedding for less?" Well, that's just what I'm here to help you do. Sure there's lots of information out there, heck, a lot of what's here you've seen before, but it's tangled in wedding sites that don't necessarily have spending less on their agenda. Like planning a wedding isn't mind boggling enough, information overload doesn't help. I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have great ideas for spending less located in one good resource”?

And so this is my effort to make your job of planning your wedding for less easier. Not all of us have a lot of money, or a lot of time for planning a wedding, and certainly not all of us have the exorbitant funding for the modern elaborate wedding. I’m here to tell you that a wedding does NOT have to put you in debt. It does NOT have to cost a life savings, and it CAN be done on a shoestring budget. You CAN do it yourself and it CAN be fabulous.

All I ask is that if you click on a product you like, and you decide to buy it, please buy it through my link.  That's how I keep this going. So, thanks ahead of time for supporting my page!

Planning Your Wedding For Less Step One

I've tried to put the site together in a way that will walk you through step by step. Some of the pages will give you a lot to think about, but all in all, the process will be easy and rewarding.

One of the best tools is a wedding planning notebook. I know, I know. Things are done on phones and mobile devices now, but there is just something satisfying about having an old fashioned planner to keep everything together, especially if you have fabric swatches from your bridesmaids dresses that you want to match to your flowers or magazine clippings you want to hold on to for your shopping inspiration. Tape the magazine clippings, sample invitations, a piece of ribbon or lace that you want when you go flower or cake shopping. Take it to the bridal boutique and even to help remember what your vision is if you are shopping for something online.

It helps you to not have to waist time by trying to remember where you put something. Your timeline, your schedules, your phone numbers to venders you want to call and any and everything related to your wedding is right there at your fingertips. It can be a source of encouragement as you check off the to-dos.  It can bring a smile to your face when you lo0k at the invitations you've chosen. something you can physically touch is so much more satisfying than just a picture.

I do recommend you use a binder so that you can add all your printed pages and also have room for all the things you might want to tape onto pages. Use the pockets for stuffing samples and other helpful things.  You might be saying to yourself that you'll do it all on your phone, but phones and computer, while they do do a lot and do make things easier in many ways, cannot give you a true to life color sample. Screens sometimes distort colors and you wind up thinking it's one thing when it's not.

You can find printable checklists, timelines and other helpful tools here.  All of which will help to keep you on track and focused on the things at hand. All of the printouts are replicas of what actual wedding planners use to plan weddings.  They break down each task into easy doable items.  If you use them, you are sure to have dotted your (I)s and crossed your (T)s.  As a wedding planner, I'm telling you, you need this!

Wedding Kiss in the Garden

The next thing in step one is to make some lists. First steps start with a lot of thinking and a lot of communication with your partner to be sure you're on the same page before going forward. Believe me. I speak from experience as a wedding planner that this will save a lot of stress and a lot of potential arguments.

Purposeful planning will pay off in the long run. If both you and your partner have really thought through and discussed each thing that needs to be decided, there should be no room for one person being let down or feeling pressured by something that wasn't addressed.  You'd be surprised by how one little thing can become a huge issue.  A huge issue because almost all decisions affect the budget.  To cut costs means to have a mutual and clear plan.

So take your time and really think about the things listed on the First Steps page here.
