According to this site, the average cost of a wedding is between $15,000 and $25,000. When searched on the net, there are several other sites that state the same and even higher. Wow! This is the wedding industry's dream come true. You don't have to spend that much if you know a few tricks.

Nov 24, Presents as Centerpieces

Why not presents for centerpieces? Presents could make the perfect centerpiece for a wedding table. They can be wrapped in just about any color, can be made as simple or as elegant as you like, and can be made with bows and ribbon that carry a theme or simply portray wedding. An empty box, paper and ribbon are relatively inexpensive. I would suggest one that isn't too small or too large for the table, but like Goldilocks...one that's just right for the look you like. Sprinkle a little shimmer (glitter, snow, or confetti) around it and there you have it; a really nice centerpiece.

Get a plain white guest book. A white cover is just as fitting and elegant as the kind with the embellishments. If you absolutely want embellishments, a quick trip to the craft or hobby store will give you lots of creative options to make your guest book personally yours. Don't buy the feather pen either. A white, silver or gold pen will do the trick.

Sep 25, Vintage Dress

A vintage dress with a stain can be salvaged by making lace appliques and strategically placing them to cover the stain.

Dresses that are off white from aging, can be soaked in lemon juice and then, without rinsing, hung in the sun to dry. The acid and sun will "bleach" the dress white again.

Another way of salvaging is to take the dress apart and use the desirable parts to create a whole new dress. This way you preserve the sentimental value, but have a dress all your own.

Aug 9, Can a Man be a bridesmaid?

Male bridesmaid - Yes
Female groomsman - Yes
Although it is not traditional, and definitely not the usual choice, there is nothing that says a man cannot be the man of the hour for the bride or that a female cannot be the "best man" for a groom. They would simply dress in gender attire that matches the other attendants in the bridal party.

Jun 24, Wedding Thoughts

I've been considering some things about wedding couples lately. There are many couples that get married well in advance of being able to have a stable home. If there is not a steady income, no house or apartment, lots of debt and no transportation options in the picture, why would a couple want to rush into marriage.

One of the highest ranked reasons for divorce is financial problems. In light of that, it would be wise for a couple to be financially set before jumping into a life that adds more complications. Sure love can span a wide gap, but the trials of life do come in and steal that googly eyed kind of love pretty quickly, and added pressure surely is not the answer to learning to be husband and wife till death do you part.

I think couples should be well set, or at least have a well thought out plan of how to get out of debt and acquire the basics needed for family provision, before jumping into marriage.
